Meditation, Movement and Mantra: Kabbalat Shabbat with the Kirtan Rabbi and OmShalom Yoga's Zack Lodmer at Bhakti Yoga Shala.
Come to Santa Monica for an evening at Bhakti Yoga Shala sponsored by Metivta.
This is Shabbat as you always wanted it. We will move and breathe, chant and “asanate,” stretch, dance, do chi gung. Shabbat and prayer as you always dreamed it could be.
Kirtan Rabbi
Kirtan Rabbi (Rabbi Andrew Hahn, Ph.D) is one of an emerging breed of cross-over, artist-rabbis whose joyful music and teachings address the deepest longings of the 21st century. He unites celebration of Torah and song in a way that allows people of all ages to discover renewed energy within their Jewish or spiritual practice.
Rabbi Andrew Hahn received rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion (Reform) and earned his Ph.D. from the Jewish Theological Seminary (Conservative), both in New York City. He is resident faculty at Clal: The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership in New York. He is presently Visiting Rabbi for Metivta: a center for contemplative Judaism in Los Angeles.
OmShalom Yoga
Om Shalom Yoga is an experience which celebrates Jewish prayer through the moving meditation of a Vinyasa flow yoga class. Weaving Jewish text and philosophies with yogic wisdom, this moving prayer gives participants a spiritual way to deepen their experience. Working traditional versions of Jewish prayers into modern, electronica arrangements composed and recorded for this flow, Om Shalom Yoga creates the moving, rhythmic space and a unique opportunity to share life as G-d intended….in the present moment.
